The first decision you need to make is whether you are going to buy a full suspension or hard tail kids bike. Suspension is better for your kids in the sense that it provides more spring back if the bike does take a hard hit. Hard tails, on the other hand, are lighter in terms of weight and are designed for smooth rides over dirt tracks and unpaved trails. They do not have the same amount of spring back though and you will need to replace the training wheels often.
